New Music: Jack Savoretti’s Singing to Strangers

Jack Savoretti is a British singer-songwriter and I’ve heard a lot of good things about his live performance. Like so many I haven’t had the chance to see him live although he’s been around for ages. Lucky me he just released his 6th studio record called “Singing to Strangers” which makes him go on tour through Europe. On May 6th he is in Zurich at Volkshaus thanks to Allblues.

Jack Savoretti’s song “Home” is one of his most famous – at least in my eyes. Such a beautiful ballade and with his raspy voice he is transporting just the right kind of sadness. But that was way back in 2014. Fast forward 5 years and we’ve got “Singing to Strangers” to listen to. And I mean how true is that. Next Monday he will definitely singing to strangers… well at least I’ll be a stranger since it’s gonna be my first time listening to him. However my friends from Loads of Music are no strangers at all as you can see by the beautiful headline picture.

But let’s talk shop. To me the new record sounds very Italien 😀 Very schmusy, ballade, soft, seducing and celebrating the relationship between a woman and a man. Here you can listen to a cute uptempo song:

What I already love and mentioned before is his voice. The deep raspy voice. I cannot wait to hear how he sounds live. Will it be the same? I will deffo let you know next week.
Last year he was at the Baloise Session and apparently did such a brilliant show the girls from loads of music couldn’t stop talking about it 😉 So I’ve got huge expectations for next Monday at Volkshaus. Get your tix via Ticketcorner.ch

Jack Savoretti is British singer-songwriter who just released his 6th studio album called “Singing to Strangers” which he will do next Monday, 6th May at Volkshaus. Stay tuned for Kekoas Korner’s opinion on his live show.

New Music: Peter Doherty & the Puta Madres

Pete(r) Doherty has been around for ages – luckily, you might say. He’s been known to live the rock’n’roll lifestyle. Ex-girlfriend Kate Moss could attest to that. He’s been buddies with Amy Winehouse as well who died 8 years ago. Now let’s talk about his music: He was part of the legendary Libertines and the lead singer of the Babyshambles.

Peter Doherty & the Puta Madres started out in 2016. After some band changes and a few festival gigs the band is releasing their first self-titled record on April, 26th. Almost a month later the multi-national band are playing X-tra in Zurich. I’m very excited to see Pete Doherty live. First of all he’s super talented and manages to create visionary songs. Second of all I heard he’s a nice chap. So I want to see and hear for myself what is true and what is not.

Let’s listen to the first single called “Who’s been having you over” off the new record:

It does sound a lot like Pete Doherty. I love the distinct guitar sounds. Makes you want to listen to more. The next single which was just released is “Paradise is under your nose” and is a bit slower than “Who’s been having you over”.

So if you are a fan of Indie Rock you should deffo mark your calendar and buy your ticket early because I think you are in for a treat. Songs from the Libertines, Babyshambles and his new project the Puta Madres are promising to be a great night for guitar and indie rock lovers.
Get your ticket here: justbecause.ch

Peter Doherty & the Puta Madres are a must see for Indie Rock / guitar lovers. Make sure listen to the debut record in two weeks and make your way down to X-tra on May, 23rd. 🙂

JPson’s breezy Hope for Change

Kekoaskorner met JP a few months ago as the tour manager of Sons of the East. Who knew tour managers could be so talented?

The South African released his newest single “Hope for Change” a few weeks ago. It’s a very cool light song which will make you feel sea breeze in your hair. I love the drums in the back ground. It adds to that certain lightness of this folky song. I can imagine JPson sitting on the beach with his friends playing this kind of music. I love when music can transport images and JPson’s music does this pretty well. But have a listen yourself: “Hope for Change“.

So what did you see when you listened to the song? Comment below! 🙂 Of course JPson got more music. They’re all very folky and have this certain beachy light feeling. I also found out that he’s done quite a lovely music video to “Open Up”. But be your own judge and have a look:

Telling you about music and listening/watching music is one thing but the best way to experience music is live. Lucky us JPson is on tour in Switzerland next year! Here are the dates:

08.02.2019 Hard Rock Hotel | Davos – CH
09.02.2019 Newgoggeien | Flumserburg – CH
13.02.2019 Kosmos | Zurich- CH
14.02.2019 Grand Café  | Zug – CH
15.02.2019 Madeleine | Luzern – CH
16.02.2019 Nangijala | Disentis – CH

Will I be seeing you on one of those dates?

Let me know what you think of JPson’s Hope for Change in the below comment section:

Alina Amuri’s Chasing Traces

Alina Amuri is a Swiss singer with Congolese roots who’s been known for her soulful voice. She finally released her 2nd album “Chasing Traces last week and I just had a listen to it.

“Won’t Cope with it” sounds like the perfect song for a rainy night in September. It starts very chilled and then the beat drops. I really really love the rhythm! And obviously the beautiful voice of Alina Amuri makes it to a perfect track to be No. 1 on the album. The very international sound continues with “Water” and “Pioneers”. The sound kinda reminds me of Erykah Badu who I adore. After three tracks there’s a short Interlude called “A long Time”. It kinda has a gospel sound and has a rich sound. What a contrast the next song is. “Giving up on you” has a rock feel and the electric guitar is very prominent.

Arcade Fire’s Everything Now !

Arcade Fire are coming back to Switzerland. This fact might come as a surprise to us. For years they’ve been avoiding our country because we have the worst fans at gigs. And you know I must admit that the Swiss audience is very hard to crack. However if you work hard and show your appreciation and you if you are really that talented you will find that the Swiss audience can be one of the most loyal audience – Just ask Naturally 7 or Anastacia!
